INSIDE THE BOOK

About this book

Contacts and Constraints provides a comprehensive exploration of the systems that make real‑time physics simulation possible. Covering constraint solvers, collision response, numerical stability, contact generation, and the underlying mathematics, the book demystifies the inner workings of modern physics engines. It bridges theory and implementation, offering developers the tools and intuition needed to build reliable, predictable, and high‑performance physical interactions for games, simulations, and interactive applications.

A superb guide

Excellent from start to finish. No filler, no padding.

A colleague recommended this and I can see why. It does something that few technical books manage: it respects the reader's time. I appreciated the honesty about what the book does not cover — it saved me from expecting things that were not there. Some of the diagrams are dense and I had to reread a few sections, though that may just be me. This is the book I wish had existed when I started working with physics simulation.

Good value, minor gaps

Strong content, uneven pacing. I would still recommend it.

I had been on the fence about this one for a while, and I should have bought it sooner. The progression from chapter to chapter is well thought out; nothing feels out of order. Some of the diagrams are dense and I had to reread a few sections, though that may just be me. Solid, and I would buy another book from this author without hesitation.

Excellent from start to finish

Exactly the book I needed. Straight to the point and genuinely useful.

I bought this on a whim after seeing it mentioned in a forum thread, and I am glad I did. There is a section near the end that ties several earlier ideas together in a way I had not seen before. The author clearly knows the subject deeply and has thought hard about how to teach it. The book rewards careful reading. Skimming it would be a mistake. One of those books that pays for itself within the first few chapters. Highly recommended.
